Detailed Paris-Normandy Cruise 11-day Itinerary

Day 1: Paris

Welcome to Paris. Enjoy a welcome dinner and then depart from Paris with the beautiful city as your backdrop.

Day 2: Les Andelys

Take a different hike and visit the Chateau Gaillard of King Richard the Lionheart, or travel to Lyons la Forêt, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and visit a local farm to taste cider, the specialty of the region. You can also join your local guide for a walking tour of the picturesque village of Les Andelys, or take a bike ride in this beautiful village located on the banks of the Seine.

Day 3: Rouen

Enjoy a walking tour of Rouen, the capital of the Normandy region. Admire the famous sites linked to Joan of Arc, the city's half-timbered houses and the historic Rouen Cathedral. You will also be able to discover the Viking warlord Rollo "the walker", who will lead a guided tour through the medieval alleys of Rouen.


This region is also the gateway to the historic Western Front, and this afternoon you will have the opportunity to explore the Somme battlefields and learn about the life of a soldier during World War I at a fascinating conference.


After dinner, a local pastry chef will come on board with a selection of his best desserts for you to enjoy.

Day 4: Rouen

Get a glimpse of what the Somme battlefields may have been like for those caught up in this terrible battle of World War I, which claimed the lives of over 150,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers. You can choose to visit the Australian National Memorial, which contains the Sir John Monash Center as well as the Chenille Valley Memorial, dedicated to New Zealand citizens who perished during the Battle of the Somme. You can also choose to visit Lochnagar Crater, Newfoundland Memorial Park, and Thiepval Memorial. You can also stay in Rouen and explore the collection of Impressionist paintings, including masterpieces by Renoir and Monet, at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, founded by Napoleon Bonaparte.

Day 5: Honfleur > Honfleur

Relax on board this morning as you cruise out into the open waters of the English Channel.


Explore Honfleur on a guided walking tour, with its picturesque architecture, relaxed coastal atmosphere, and colorful fishing boats floating on the water, or visit charming Norman villages and learn about their traditional cheeses and Calvados. The small town of Pont l'Évêque is famous for producing a cheese of the same name, and you can taste it and much more during your guided tour.

Day 6: Honfleur

Visit the historic beaches of Normandy, site of the D-Day landings that took place in June 1944. There are three equally fascinating options to choose from. Learn about the involvement of British forces by visiting the Bayeux War Cemetery, the Museum of the Battle of Normandy, and the D-Day Museum at Arromanches, and finish at the British Normandy Memorial, or learn about the United States' contribution to the battle at Utah Beach and the Memorial, before visiting the American Cemetery and Normandy Visitor Center, or watch the battle through the eyes of Canadian forces by visiting the Juno Beach Center, a museum dedicated to the Canadian war effort , as well as the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian Cemetery and the Pegasus Bridge & Museum. You can also learn about the history of another era by visiting Bayeux and its famous tapestry, a hand-embroidered masterpiece that depicts tales of the Norman conquest of England and dates back to the 11th century.

Day 7: Honfleur > Caudebec-en-Caux

Visit Fécamp and its powerful palace. Set in a spectacular environment, the city's natural setting contrasts perfectly with its architectural centerpiece, the Benedictine Palace. Next, visit the beautiful seaside town of Etretat, proudly seated between dramatic rock faces. You can also travel to the hilltop village of Bolbec and admire the fabrics at the fascinating Textile Museum, before visiting a traditional Norman farm nearby. For the more adventurous, take a guided bike tour of the charming village of Villequier and visit the Victor Hugo Museum to learn more about the famous French writer.

Day 8: Vernon

In a place rich in visual treasures, it's easy to see why this region of France has inspired many of history's most famous artists.


Visit Giverny, the former residence and Monet's gardens. Many of the artist's most famous works were inspired by this awe-inspiring place. You can also work your heart out on a self-guided bike ride through Vernon to Giverny, where you'll have the opportunity to visit Monet's Garden. After exploring these spectacular gardens, you might want to take an onboard painting class this afternoon.


Enrich: 

Built in a steep rock face overlooking the Seine and the small village of the same name, the Château de La Roche-Guyon is a sight to behold. Experience the opulence and grandeur of yesteryear by attending a classical concert given by the region's most renowned musicians. The castle dates back to medieval times and you will keep fond memories of this experience for many years to come.

Day 9: Conflans > Paris

Discover the charms of Auvers-sur-Oise and see Vincent van Gogh's bedroom, or enter the magnificent Château de Chantilly for a guided tour of this remarkable château, set in the middle of a magnificent park. You can also visit the large stables located in the Chantilly park. The stables also house a museum dedicated to the relationship between man and horse through time.

Day 10: Paris

Today you have the choice of exploring France's most famous city or exploring outside of the city.


Stroll through the trendy Marais district with a resident expert and hear stories only locals know, or admire the extravagance and grandeur of the famous Opéra Garnier on a guided tour. You can also discover the highlights of Paris on a guided city tour and marvel at the city's many iconic sites. You can also explore the surroundings of Paris and visit the 17th-century estate of Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte, which inspired Louis XIV for the Palace of Versailles.

Your trip concludes after breakfast as you disembark and transfer to Paris airport.
